The provinces near Shanghai (Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, Anhui Province and JIngxi Province) are in the central eastern part of China. Situated at the temperate zone and with a network of rivers and canals as well as a fertile land, mild temperature and abundant rainfall, the south part of Jiangsu Province and north part of Zhejiang Province is a well-known "Land of Fish and Rice" area. The majority of this area is on a low terrain with some low hills and mountains. It has been a major cultural, economic, and political centre of China since the 4th century. So in this area, there are many man-made sceneries such as gardens, water towns and historical cities, such as Suzhou, Hangzhou, Wuxi, Zhenjiang, Nanjing, Yangzhou, Shaoxin and Nignbo. In the countryside, Wuzhen, Tongli, Zhouzhuang, Xitang, Luzhi and Nanxun water towns are the top 6 water towns of China. The Suzhou style classical gardens are the pearl of Chinese arts and the West Lake in Hangzhou is the most charming lake by the side of big city in China. The natural scenery is also very beautiful because of its multiple topographical features, temperate climate and rich vegetation. 

 

Other part in these provinces are mainly the mountain area. There are many famous attractions with eye-feasting mountains, enchanting waters and famous time-honored historical sites, such as Mt.Huangshan (Yellow Mountain), Mt. Wuyi, Mt. Sanqing (all of them are the UNESCO World Heritage site), Mt.Yandang (in the Tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage), Nanxi River (in the Tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage), Mt. Tiantai, Mt. Xianju ... These places are not far from Shanghai. Spending several days holiday in any of these places to relax in the picturesque natural mountain and water landscape areas is an ideal experience for the person who wanna to escape from the city's hustle and bustle life.
