Overnight in Guiyang

Huangguoshu Waterfall: Located 43 km southwest of Anshun of Guizhou Province, the Huangguoshu Waterfalls are one of the largest waterfall groups in China. They have been found out that the falls in this area consist of 18 falls on the ground and 4 underground falls. Among them Huangguoshu Waterfalls, which is the largest one in the groups and in Asia as well, is 68 meters high and 8l meters wide with a flow of more than 700 cubic meters of water per second, huge amounts of water seem like pouring from the sky. Turbulent waters throw into a pool at the bottom of a valley, sending foams up by 100 meters. And roars can be heard kilometers away. When the sun rises rainbows appear, adding a touch of beauty to the majesty of the cataract.

Tianxing Qiao Scenic Area: Featuring the perfect combination of stones, trees and water, the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Zone is a natural miniascape evolving from the growing stone forests in water. Compared with the grandness of the Huangguoshu Waterfalls, it is more bijou and beautiful. A couplet generalizing its verve goes like that: 鈥淚t is compared to a gigantic miniature garden created by wind knife and water sword; also an ancient painting painted by root pen and vine ink.鈥

Stone Village : just 6 kilometers away from Huangguoshu Waterfall. It is a Buyi Minority village, the home of 200 families, totally some 1000 Buyi ethnic people (a biggist minority in the southwest of China). Surrounded by mountains covered by lush trees and rivers, the scenery of the village is very attractive. Wide Stone River passes along the village with a five-cave stone bridge arching over. The stone bridge together with its reflection forms a circle and the reflections of the mountains and trees are chamber in the five holes of the bridge respectively.

Day 3   Guiyang/Matang(250KM, 3H)/Leishan

Today's Activities: Matang Gejia Minority Village,Xijiang Miao Minority Village with thousand households,

Overnight in Leishan

Matang Village, located roughly 18 kilometers north of the city of Kaili, is a Gejia Minority Village. Officially the Gejia (alternatively, Ge Jia) are classified as a subgroup of the Miao Minority, but this is a classification that the Gejia resent, claiming instead that they are a unique ethnic minority in their own right, with their own unique language and social customs, including their own unique dress (the Gejia insist that they are the descendants of Houyi, the God of the Arrow, according to Gejia legend).

Xijiang Miao Village with thousand households:  It is the world鈥檚 largest Miao Village and the most primitive Miao culture according to scholars and folk culture researchers. Researchers believe the village, home to over 1,200 households of about 6,000 Miao people, is the 鈥渓iving fossil鈥 to study Miao minority's history and traditional culture. You will be fascinated by the locals鈥 exotic dress, daily life and the unique architecture of their wooden houses. This is where festivals are celebrated aplenty and in large scale and you can get to enjoy Miao songs and dances. You will get to make a special home visit to a villager鈥檚 home to learn more about the way of life of Miao tribe people and how to make local handicraft. Tonight, you will spend a memorable evening celebrated in distinctive Miao way with the DJ, and you will be serenaded by songs and dance performances

Day 4    Leishan/Rong River (60KM,4H)/Basha(100KM,2H)/Congjiang

Today's Activities: Sanbao Dong Minority Village, Basha Miao Minority Village

Rongjiang Sanbao Dong Minority Village
It is situated 5 kilometers (3 miles) from Rongjiang County. It is the largest Dong ethnic minority area in China. Visitors can drop in to see the Zengchong Tower nearby. The tower is in Congjiang County. However, it is more convenient to go there from Rongjiang County. This fir wood construction was completed in 1672 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Around the Zengjiang tower stands a cluster of towers with hundreds years of history. Visitors who are interested in the traditional Dong architecture can first find a farmhouse.

Basha Miao Village: Only 5 kilometers away from Congjiang and with a highway running right acrossBasha is a very special and old Miao Ethnic village. The villagers still practice their unique traditions dating to Qing Dynasty ( about 2200 years ago. Basha village is very little touched by violent modernization. Residents there still live in their wooden houses, practicing centuries-long custom and have their own unique belief.

Day 5    Congjiang/Xiaohuang(60KM,2H)/Sandu

Today's Activities: Xiaohuang Dong Minority Village, Sandu Shui Minority Village

Overnight in Sandu

Sandu: China鈥檚 only Shui Minority autonomous county.

The Shui Minority has a population of about 350,000 (calculated in 1990), most of which dwell in the Sandu Shui People Autonomous County, Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in the southern part of Guizhou Province. The rest are scattered throughout nearby counties, such as Libo, Rongjiang, Duyun, Dushan, Majiang, Liping, Kaili, etc. The residences of the Shui People are located along the upper stream of Duliu and Longjiang Rivers in the south of the Miaoling Mountains in the Yungui (Yunnan-Guizhou) Plateau. It is named the "the land flowing with milk and honey" because its dense forests and picturesque landscapes make it suitable for agriculture and forestry.  The Shui People make a living from agriculture. They mainly grow paddy rice, and produce a traditional wine called "Qiuqiansa."

Xiaohuang:A Village of the Dong Songs

IntroductionXiaohuang is a mysterious yet poetic village inhabited by people of the Dong ethnic group. Of the cream of the Dong customs, Dong singing is famous enough to earn the village the title of Home of Dong Songs. Featuring unique Xiaohuang tunes, Dong singing is conducted totally without conductors and instrumental accompaniment. With a history of some 500 years, Dong singing joins the Dong Village Drum Pavilion and Dong Flower Bridge in forming the Three Treasures of Dong Culture. Xiaohuang singing is a brilliant chapter of the Dong and even Chinese music

Day 6   Sandu/Libo(200KM,3.5H)

Today's Activities: Xiaoqikong & Daqikong (Seven Small/ Large Arches) karst areas.

Overnight in Libo

Xiaoqikong (Seven Small Arches) lies in Libo County in southern Guizhou Province, covering an area of some 10 square kilometers. It's fantastic primeval scenery formed by virgin forests, limestone caves, lakes etc. A small seven-arched bridge spans the river, hence the name of the scenic area. This natural and unique scenic spot, having sixteen scattered points of interest, is regarded as a world treasure.

The whole area is enclosed within Maolan kast forest, and here visitors find not the lonely landscape usually seen in other karst areas. What come into view instead are lush green woods, crystal-clear waters and lofty pikes. The unique hydrologic effect of the karst forest has turned out strange landscapes of water maze, water forest and a lot of separated waterfalls.
